Sutter Health Selects Site of Care Systems to Support First Pregnancy and Delivery Initiative
Site of Care data management and outcome analysis tool enables strategic initiative for a leading healthcare network

With 28 affiliates and 21 birthing units throughout northern California, Sutter selected Site of Care for its unique ability to meet the ever-changing government and medical reporting requirements of demanding peri/neonatal settings. The FPAD initiative, Sutter Health’s newest clinical improvement project, is aimed at improving outcomes for first-time mothers and their babies. First-time mothers are five-times more likely to undergo a Cesarean section, experience two-and-a-half times the labor length, deliver babies with nearly twice the admissions to neonatal ICU, and almost triple the cost of mothers with prior successful births. These overwhelming statistics have made first-time deliveries a prime obstetrical education/care focus and important clinical research project for Sutter Health. Site of Care technology sits at the center of this project to identify which labor practices lead to the best outcomes for mother and child. The system will also track progress throughout a series of rapid-cycle-change quality-improvement projects
