Newborn Hearing Screening Program administered and tracked through Site of Care Systems
San Francisco, CA – February 1, 2003 – Site of Care Systems, a leader in perinatal and neonatal information systems, today announced that its Daily Baby Center module, implemented at many nationally recognized Medical Centers, is being utilized to administer and track the various state mandated Newborn Hearing Screening Programs.
Today more than 2000 hospitals, in 46 states, are operating successful Newborn Hearing Screening Programs. The goal of the statewide programs is to identify babies with hearing loss and enroll them in appropriate intervention programs as early as possible. Current research shows savings of as much as $421,000 per child in special education costs when children are identified early and given appropriate intervention. Site of Care Systems’ neonatal information management system, The Daily Baby Center, is being utilized to administer and track pertinent information required by the various hearing screening programs.
"In our program, we test 5600 babies annually. It is imperative to have a system in place to efficiently manage the information." commented Terri Slagle, Neonatologist, California Pacific Medical Center "With Site of Care, we track test results done on all babies delivered. We can get very specific on individual babies, can generate all state required NHSP statistics, generate letters to parents and pediatricians at different times based on the most recent test results. We can also be very proactive in reminding parents of upcoming and overdue screening and diagnostic activities."
