Sutter Health announces goal of system wide implementation of Site of Care Application Suite
Today at the Sutter Health 2nd Annual Women and Children’s Conference it was announced that one of the primary goals of the Sutter Health Women and Children’s service line is the system wide implementation of Site of Care for the standardization of perinatal and neonatal data collection.
George Lee, MD, Chair of the Women’s and Children’s Oversight Committee, announced in his opening presentation "System wide implementation of Site of Care will allow Sutter to develop the largest integrated clinical database around maternity events in the nation. Use of this information will be critical to optimizing clinical outcomes and satisfaction for our maternity and neonatal patients. By automating virtually all standard reporting and measurement requirements in our perinatal and neonatal units, Sutter also has the opportunity to reduce costs".
Site of Care is currently installed in 6 of the 18 Sutter Health affiliates who provide maternity services, representing 40% of Sutter Health births. Implementation of Site of Care has just begun at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Sutter Health’s largest maternity center. Once Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is fully operational with Site of Care, over 56% of Sutter Health’s births will be tracked by Site of Care.
System wide implementation of Site of Care Systems’ Application Suite will significantly improve the ease and accuracy of data reporting for the Sutter Health’s Network wide First Pregnancy and Delivery Initiative (FPAD). This system wide quality improvement project focuses on key issues in the maternity care of first time mothers. The initiative, which is designed and led by physicians, midwives and nurses, includes the development of quality measures, comparison of outcomes and best practices and the development of educational resources and quality improvement tools.
