West Virginia University Health Sciences Center Implements The Site of Care Systems Application Suite for use in labor and delivery and nursery areas of medical center

San Francisco CA and Morgantown WV - September 24, 2001 — Site of Care Systems, the leading provider of integrated data management tools for improving quality in maternal and child healthcare, announced today that West Virginia University Health Sciences Center has installed The Perinatal Data Application Suite for its perinatal and neonatal information systems. The West Virginia University Health Sciences Center joins a list of leading care providers that have chosen Site of Care Systems to meet the many healthcare challenges in the perinatal and neonatal inpatient settings.

The Site of Care Systems Application Suite consists of four individual applications that automate data management in the perinatal, neonatal, antepartum testing and infant developmental follow up hospital settings. The applications are utilized by nurse practitioners and physicians to generate admission H & P’s, daily progress notes, discharge summaries, logbooks, and extensive automated reports and statistics. Clinical information entered into The Application Suite is stored in a large relational database, providing clinicians with ready access to daily documentation for comprehensive statistical analysis and outcome review. Data tracking reports required by state and federal agencies include Vermont Oxford Network measures, HEDIS, and JCAHO standards & reports.

According to Mark Polak, M.D., neonatologist with University Health Associates, "Having access to data is more important than ever in today’s healthcare environment. Site of Care’s Daily Baby Center application will allow us to aggregate our neonates’ data and allow us to make more informed decisions concerning clinical pathways as well as financial outcomes. In selecting Site of Care as our Neonatal Information System we can now monitor the quality of care, manage the clinical care, manage staffing and allocation of resources as well as benchmarking the data we collect." According to Site of Care CEO Gordon Romer, The Site of Care Application Suite provides an integrated solution for busy perinatal settings seeking to improve accuracy, save time, and enhance clinical quality. "With manual, handwritten systems, critical clinical information remains buried in the chart. The applications allow clinicians to enter data once, and then access the data to generate a wide variety of standard and specialized reports. It’s like using email – once you figure out how easy and useful it is, you can’t imagine what you ever did without it."
